Deborah Wachs, M.D. received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a major in Accounting. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young, LLP specializing in tax consulting from 1993-1996 in New York and Washington, DC. While there were many aspects of this career that she enjoyed, Dr. Wachs realized that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She completed the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program at Georgetown University with highest honors and then continued on to receive her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Wachs moved to the west coast to begin her Ob/Gyn residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco. Throughout her residency training, Dr. Wachs was most interested in the endocrinologist aspects of gynecology and the evaluation of infertility patients. She pursued basic science research at the University of California, San Francisco during her last two years of residency to further her exposure to reproductive endocrinology.
Dr. Wachs completed her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, San Diego. During that time she received extensive clinical training in reproductive surgery, ovulation induction, and in vitro fertilization. She also participated in several federally funded research studies focusing on polycystic ovary syndrome and its pathophysiology. Dr. Wachs is the author of several scientific research papers published in peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters on this topic.
Dr. Wachs joined RSC in January 2009 and has been integral in the success of our San Jose clinic. In the last year she has built a strong foundation with patients and colleagues.
Dr. Wachs is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. She serves as a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Wachs areas of interest include polycystic ovary syndrome, diminished ovarian reserve, recurrent pregnancy loss, and preimplantation genetic screening.
