Joseph G. Whelan, III, M.D. continues to give lectures and research presentations world-wide and has published extensively in medical journals and textbooks. He has taught general gynecology, gynecological surgery and reproductive endocrinology/infertility to OB/GYN physicians-in-training at Emory University and the University of Virginia. Dr. Whelan is board-certified in general OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinology/infertility. His areas of interest include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, human egg cell and embryo maturation, IVF, and surgical treatments for enhancing fertility such as uterine 'fibroid' tumor removal, tubal reconstructive surgery and endometriosis surgery.

Dr. Whelan received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He completed his residency at the University of South Carolina, where he received the Senior Resident Award for outstanding performance in laparoscopy. He then completed a 3 year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he taught on the faculty during that time as a clinical instructor.
