Laurie J. McKenzie, M.D. is one of Texas’ Top Reproductive Endocrinologists, as selected by her peers during a recent annual survey. She is Medical Director of Houston, Texas-based Houston IVF, and is on clinical faculty for both University of Texas and Baylor College of Medicine.

 

Dr. McKenzie received her Baccalaureate Degree at University of Florida and graduated with honors from the University of Florida Medical School. Following her completion of a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas, Dr. McKenzie completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

 

She maintains several professional memberships, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the National Fertility Association, RESOLVE, Endocrine Society, and the American Medical Association. Dr. McKenzie has received many honors and awards including the John Harrington Tanous Research Award, the NIH Fellowship Award, and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. In 2003, she was awarded the prestigious ACOG Ortho- McNeil Academic Fellowship.

 

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McKenzie is a prolific researcher. She has published both basic science research and clinical reports in peer reviewed journals as well as chapters in textbooks on reproductive topics. Her research related to preimplantation genetic diagnosis, embryo selection, and male factor infertility has been presented at national and international research meetings including the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the International Society for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis, and she has been an invited speaker for courses given by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. McKenzie also finds time to mentor medical students and residents with an interest in women’s health.
