Dr. Mark D. Johnson has practiced reproductive medicine and fertility in the Phoenix valley since 2000. He came to Phoenix with an extensive professional experience in reproductive medicine. His background is unique in that he is both an experienced Reproductive Endocrinologist-Infertility specialist and a Clinical Geneticist. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with subspecialty Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology-Infertility and is Board Certified in the specialty of Medical Genetics.

His practice with the Arizona Associates in Reproductive Health encompasses all areas of advanced reproductive medicine including reproductive surgery, recurrent pregnancy loss, reproductive endocrinology, reproductive genetics, and the assisted reproductive technologies (ART) including in vitro fertilization (IVF) with a special interest and extensive experience in preimplantation genetic diagnostics (PGD).  He is a Clinical Associate Professor of the University of Arizona School of Medicine and is on the faculty of the Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital Maricopa County Medical Center.

Dr Johnson received his B.S. degree at the United States Air Force Academy in 1974 and his medical M.D. degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1978.  Following completion of his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1978-1982) and after fulfilling a commitment in the Air Force as an Obstetrician Gynecologist (1982-1987), Dr. Johnson pursued his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship training at the Medical College of Georgia (1987-1989).  During his fellowship, he developed an interest in genetics research and was selected as a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  During his term as a Research Fellow at the NIH (1989-1993), he completed the NIH Clinical Fellowship in Medical Genetics.  Following his fellowships, Dr. Johnson was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Stanford University School of Medicine (1993-1996) and an Assistant Professor and Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Harbor Medical Center (1996-1998).  His previous private practice experiences in reproductive medicine were at the Arizona Reproductive Medicine Specialists (2003-2013), Fertility Treatment Center in Chandler (2000-2003), and the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Genetics in West Palm Beach, Florida (1998-2000).

Since his arrival in Phoenix in 2000, Dr. Johnson has been very active in the Phoenix community of obstetrician-gynecologists. He is a Past-Chair (2008-2011) and Past-Vice Chair (2005-2007) of the Arizona Section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and is a Past-President of the Phoenix OB-GYN Society (2004-2005).  He is a member of the Professional Advisory Board to the local chapter of RESOLVE.   He has been selected as a Phoenix Magazine “Top Doc in Infertility” in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
