Shawn Elizabeth Gurtcheff, MD, MS has a broad understanding of patients from various backgrounds, honed during her years in university-based and public health clinical settings. Dr. Gurtcheff is the recipient of numerous honors for research and teaching, including the SmithKline Beecham Award for Humanism in Medicine, awarded with her MD from the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

Dr. Gurtcheff is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has served as an associate with The Permanente Medical Group Northern California Women's Health Department (Capital Service Area), an adjunct instructor with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California at Davis, and an instructor in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. At the University of Utah, she completed her Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship while receiving her postdoctoral MS in Clinical Investigation.

Research interests for Dr. Gurtcheff include infertility in population cohorts, use of hormonal contraception in special populations, single embryo transfer with IVF, and optimizing infertility therapy outcomes. Dr. Gurtcheff's honors include several Resident scholarships and meeting Reporter awards (Wyeth-Ayerst at ACOG and ASRM, Pfizer at ACOG), the Berlex Resident Teaching Award, APGO Foundation Scholars Award, Award for Outstanding Research in Women's Health from Organon, and 2nd Place Scientific Poster Award at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists 32nd Annual Meeting.
