Susan P. Willman, M.D. has been practicing Reproductive Endocrinology since 1990. She spent her first two years with the Alta Bates In Vitro Fertilization Program, and then started her solo practice in 1992. In 1999, she joined the Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dr. Willman received her undergraduate summa cum laude and medical degree cum laude from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri where she grew up. She then went to Dallas, Texas where she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas, Parkland Hospital. This was a large county program with over 13,000 deliveries a year and where she gained extensive clinical and surgical experience. She then pursued specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and infertility at the University of California, San Francisco. Originally, Dr. Willman thought she would pursue an academic career in research, but she was not happy with bench science research and realized her calling was to work directly with patients, particularly women. Having grown up in a large family, she always had a special interest in families and children.

At the Reproductive Science Center, she has been responsible for the management of the Third Party Parenting Program, overseeing in particular the screening and outcome of oocyte donation cycles. She has also been responsible for the oversight and development of the RSC Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening Program which offers genetic screening of embryos.

Dr. Willman is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology and the Mental Health Special Interest Group, as well as the European Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and the Pre-Implantation Genetics International Society.
