Fertility Preservation Through Egg Freezing

email article share article on facebook

If you’ve been diagnosed with a serious illness or if you’re not ready to get pregnant, you may consider egg freezing fertility preservation.  Freezing your embryos prior to the cancer treatments or other therapy can let you preserve your fertility and still have a family later on. During IVF, your doctor retrieves the eggs and fertilizes them with sperm (from your partner or donor sperm) to create healthy embryos. The doctor freezes and stores the embryos, which can be used after your treatment or when you decide it’s time to start a family.
